April 29, 2024 - NMFS allocated additional Pacific whiting pounds into Quota Share (QS) accounts. The interim allocation for the shorebased IFQ sector is 263,933,789 pounds. Please note that this amount is inclusive of, not in addition to, the initial allocation which was distributed to QS accounts on January 1, 2024. The amounts are based on the range of coastwide total allowable catch (TAC) considered for the 2024 Pacific whiting harvest specifications and 2024 tribal whiting allocation established in the draft proposed rule (RIN 0648-BM85). After we publish the final Pacific whiting Total Allowable Catch (TAC), we will deposit any additional QP into the accounts.
