Description

The Tribe focused its efforts on developing Riparian Corridor along Mill Creek by combining its PCSRF funds with other Agency funds. Sporadic funding success limited tree and vegetation planting activities from the proposed 11,000 trees and shrubs along the banks and into the floodplain of Mill Creek to an actual number of approximately 7,000 trees. To ensure the survival and proliferation of this planted vegetation the Tribe was able to water the vegetation using the extensive irrigation system that was established for each unit (Cells) of vegetation that was planted during the summer months. PCSRF funds were also applied to the propagation of various riparian vegetation species within the Tribes Greenhouse nursery that were subsequently planted along the banks of Mill Creek.

Project Benefit

To improve the myriad of ecological roles that a healthy and functional riparian corridor play in the health and viability of a stream system while improving the overall habitat conditions for the salmonid species that depend on them.
