YRDFA Administration & Management FY08

YRDFA reviewed its strategic plan on an annual basis and developed new projects as appropriately related to current issues facing the Yukon River salmon fisheries. Staff and board members addressed research and management needs pertaining to Yukon River salmon and developed an outreach and education process for keeping fishermen involved in the management process through their direct involvement and also through staff representation of Yukon River fishing families at the numerous state, federal, and tribal meetings that take place throughout the year on an annual basis. YRDFA projects funded through the AKSSF have all been managed smoothly with financial and administrative oversight leading to properly managed projects. YRDFA has continued to work on refining its goals and objectives to work in changing environments in order to be an adaptive and flexible organization while still meeting its mission.

High quality management of YRDFAs SSSF projects enables YRDFA to ascertain the right projects to develop based on fishers needs. This will lead YRDFA to better represent the salmon fisheries on the Yukon River. It is important for fishers, salmon fisheries managers, and other private, tribal, and non-profit entities to easily work together in partnerships.
