Description

This project coordinated the PIT tagging of juvenile Hanford Reach fall Chinook salmon for the years 2007-2009. These tags are detected at juvenile bypass systems at McNary, John Day, and Bonneville dams where they can be used to produce estimates of fish travel time and survival. All tag information is uploaded to a regional database (www.ptagis.org), which also stores records of PIT tag detections in the Columbia Basin.

Project Benefit

This project will provide survival data through the hydrosystem for Hanford Reach fall Chinook salmon and may suggest changes in spill and flow to increase survival for this important stock that is harvested in Alaskan fisheries.
