Description

The following assessments and recovery planning efforts were worked on with partners:

1) Young’s Bay Winter Habitat Assessment Project and Restoration Prioritization (freshwater habitat and juvenile fish use throughout the Young’s’ Bay Watershed).
2) Necanicum River (Mainstem) Habitat Assessment Project and Priorities for Large Wood Placement, Riparian Enhancement, and Off-Channel Enhancement.
3) Holden Creek Limiting Factors Analysis & Restoration Project (tributary to Trask River, Tillamook Bay).
4) Nestucca/Neskowin Watersheds Culvert Prioritization.
5) Mill Creek Limiting Factors Assessment, Prioritization and Action Plan.
6) Tillamook Bay Rapid bio-Assessment (juvenile salmonid distribution and abundance).
7) East Fork Nehalem Watershed Analysis and Prioritization.
8) Upper Nehalem Winter Habitat Assessment and Prioritization.
9) Coastal Coho Strategy Prioritization.
10) Tidal Wetland Prioritization for the Nehalem River Estuary 2005.

Project Benefit

This project will contribute to an increase in local and tribal capacity to develop and implement watershed/sub-basin plans. All plans will be based on technical assessments that identify threats and specific factors limiting production of salmon populations and include1) an inventory of existing activities; 2) an evaluation of efforts needed to address limiting factors; and.3) a prioritized list of strategies and actions to improve the management, protection restoration, and conservation of salmon populations.
