Description

The property has been purchased. The parcel was listed on the North Central Washington MLS for $129,000. The purchase price was negotiated at $125,000, plus $810.50 in closing costs, leaving a balance of $3,189.50. The remainder of funds was used to contract a surveyor to delineate the property boundary.

Project Benefit

Loss of off channel habitat due to development of the river corridor has been identified as a limiting factor to Endangered Species Act listed fish. Preservation of this habitat will benefit all species including steelhead and spring chinook by contributing to rearing/spawning/refuge area.

Objective 1: As the initial phase of the project, there is no monitoring component necessary. However there will be monitoring activities occurring on and around the property as part of ongoing projects in the basin. Spawning ground surveys will be conducted to determine the number of returning adult salmon that are using the habitat and snorkel surveys will be used to estimate juvenile salmonid populations
