Description

Big River LWD: A second stream channel reach of this project was completed in summer 2006 along 800 feet of an eroding pasture bank of Big River upstream from last years LWD project. FY 04 PCSR funds were utilized to mobilize the wood and construct the jams.

Project Benefit

Contribution of recovery of aquatic ecosystems within the Makah U&A by conducting restoration projects or supplementing larger restoration projects opportunistically.

Monitoring of pre- and post-project instream and riparian habitat conditions will be conducted on an as needed basis and details will depend on project specifics. In general, monitoring may include one or more of the following: measurements of LWD and jam density; pool conditions; habitat unit area and frequency; canopy density and riparian condition; permanent reference/photo points; permanent cross-sections; channel profile surveys; substrate size distribution data; fish presence/absence surveys; redd count surveys; discharge and velocity measurements; water quality; and biological health.
