Fish Passage Barrier Removal Support in Goleta and the Gaviota Coast

The proposed project would will focus on developing fish passage barrier removal projects to benefit federally endangered steelhead trout in the San Jose Creek, Gaviota Creek and Maria Ygnacio Creek. The project will lead to the development of between 4 and 8 fish passage (2-4 per year) barrier removal projects in the three identified watersheds throughout the funding period of this grant. Previous work has been carried out in these watersheds to inventory, analyze and plan for the removal of the barriers to varying degrees and the grant funds from this program will provide needed resources to push these years long projects closer to completion.

SCHR will use increased capacity from this grant to coordinate and drive progress on projects that will remove barriers and allow Federally Endangered Southern Steelhead Trout access important habitat areas throughout the South Coast.
