Description
The primary focus of the CCC Camarillo Steelhead Support Team?s project was training and educating California Conservation Corps (CCC) staff and corpsmembers about steelhead life history, riparian and upland ecology, and instream restoration and habitat improvement techniques. Habitat restoration techniques taught include in-stream water diversion and bankside stabilization. The CCC Camarillo Steelhead Support Team has worked to increase the number of restoration projects that CCC Camarillo crews work on to promote watershed health. During this grant there were 3 restoration projects completed in the Ventura River Watershed, El Capitan Creek, and Topanga Creek.
Project Benefit
This project will improve habitat conditions for the benefit of southern California steelhead within the coastal streams located from Point Conception to Northern Santa Monica Bay by planning and implementation of fisheries restoration projects in multiple watersheds.
Grantee will identify and develop southern California steelhead habitat restoration projects, develop partnerships with organizations, improve public outreach, collaborate with private landowners, implementing projects, and education of Corps members.
