Description
The primary goals of the Project are to conduct three (3) water conservation and water rights workshops (Trinity, Humboldt, and Mendocino Counties), and two (2) BMP intensive workshops and field tours (Trinity / Siskiyou and Northern Mendocino Counties). The Project?s goals also include promoting watershed stewardship, land and water management practices training, and education with the goal of having landowners, resource professionals, restorationists, and communities increase their technical knowledge to better preserve and restore focus species habitat by: 1) educating landowners about the effects of unregulated water use on streams and aquatic species; 2) encouraging water conservation techniques and compliance with state water law; 3) identifying cooperating landowners and agencies to develop implementation projects that would have multiple beneficial uses and increase stream flows; and 4) educating landowners and planners about sediment and erosion control BMPs.
Project Benefit
This project will create education materials, curriculum, and a series of workshops on water conservation as well as erosion and sediment control in fire-prone regions of CA with a target audience of landowners, municipalities, and watershed planners.
