Description

The goal of this Project was to restore salmonid habitat and accelerate fisheries recovery by permanently removing several abandoned roads that are aligned through the riparian zone adjacent to Bear Creek. Implementation of this project saved sediment from delivering to Bear Creek and improved instream habitat conditions for salmonids. The Project specifically decommissioned 3.7 miles of streamside riparian road, preventing approximately 6,600 cubic yards from delivering to Bear Creek. A total 31 sediment source sites were treated including 20 stream crossing. Approximately 1.3 miles of upslope road were improved including five (5) stream crossings.

Project Benefit

Implementing these site-specific erosion control measures, will save approximately 6,555 cubic yards of potential sediment from delivering to Bear Creek and improve instream habitat conditions for spawning and rearing salmonids.
