Description

This Project produced 100% construction ready design plans for instream and off-channel habitat features, and diversion improvement in a half mile reach of Seiad Creek covering an area of approximately 13 acres. The design plan includes instream wood structures, reconnection of the stream channel to the floodplain, and creation of off-channel habitat features. The project will ultimately address limiting factors to salmonids by restoring critical winter and summer refugia habitat and improving floodplain connectivity and instream structure complexity.

Project Benefit

The expected results from this project will produce implementation plans for restoring fish habitat and natural stream processes for coho salmon in Seiad Creek.

The project accomplished the SONCC-Upper Klamath River 2.1.4.1 task of "assess habitat to determine beneficial location and amount of instream structure needed". A 1/2-mile reach of Seiad Creek near Panther Gulch was assessed to design the most beneficial location and type of instream structures. Instream structures resulting from the design in this section of Seiad Creek will provide spawning habitat for listed Coho Salmon.
