Description

The purpose of Project is to to develop fully permittable 100% design plans to improve instream habitat conditions through introduction of large wood (LW) habitat structures and treat riparian habitat to increase the rate at which LW recruitment will occur. Specifically, at least 3 Engineered Log Jams (ELJ) and 75 Non-Engineered Log Jam designs will be created to lead to treatment of the top 10 highest priority stream reaches, as identified by the field investigation. The project will also develop a restoration/action plans for sediment-impaired systems following a comprehensive field investigation to help implement watershed sediment control. In addition, a field investigation (including topographic instream/habitat survey) will establish the location and elevation of the existing ground surface, stream alignment, top-of-bank, edge of riparian zone, and all relevant hydrological, geological, and biological features.

Project Benefit

Expected benefits are to improve instream habitat conditions through introduction of large wood (LW) habitat structures and treat riparian habitat to increase the rate at which LW recruitment will occur. Specifically, at least 3 Engineered Log Jams (ELJ) and 75 Non-Engineered Log Jam designs will be created to lead to treatment of the top 10 highest priority stream reaches, as identified by the field investigation.
