Description
The Project constructed 24 large wood structures within 2,100 feet of Aikens Creek, consisting of 88 logs. Live riparian vegetation was incorporated into the log structures for wood recruitment and fish cover habitat. These log structures will enhance fish spawning habitat by altering channel geomorphology to sort and retain gravel to increase spawning habitat.
Project Benefit
Create juvenile salmonid refugia for cover and rearing habitat by installing wood structures. Log structures will enhance spawning by altering channel morphology for gravel retention, reduce stream flow velocity for summer/winter rearing.
