Description

Escapement surveys were conducted on the Shasta and Scott Rivers to estimate the abundance of adult salmonids returning to both watersheds to spawn. An underwater video camera was operated in the flume of the Shasta River Fish Counting Facility (SRFCF) 24 hours a day, seven days a week, from September 1, 2021, until January 5, 2022. Fish counting operations at the Scott River Fish Counting Facility began on September 28, 2021, and ended on January 3, 2022.

Project Benefit

Adult abundance and trend information is critical monitoring information identified in both the Federal and State Coho Salmon recovery plans that are required for listing status updates and tracking the effectiveness of restoration actions. Without this basic population information delisting criteria could not be met.
