Description

The George Creek Barrier Removal project will restore access to 1.67 miles of steelhead habitat in the Cottonwood Creek watershed in Nez Perce County, Idaho by replacing an undersized culvert. Currently there is no steelhead access to the stream due to a full passage barrier at all life stages. Access is currently blocked by an 8 foot diameter culvert with a four foot outlet drop which prevents steelhead from passing through the culvert. The design phase of this project was completed through PCSRF project 004 20 CW.

Project Benefit

This project will allow access to 1.67 miles of perennial stream in the Cottonwood Creek drainage. As access is improved, pre-smolt and smolt stages of steelhead utilization of the stream is expected to increase.
