Makah Tribe FY 2023 Salmon Recovery and Implementation

This project will contribute to the Makah Tribe’s infrastructure support for participation in the many interconnected agencies and groups throughout the region that are involved in salmon stock and habitat preservation and recovery efforts. This project will also help support existing projects being implemented by the Makah Tribe in partnership with the North Olympic Salmon Coalition. There are currently over 10 existing and planned projects that the Tribe has been working on to address fish passage barriers and habitat restoration. Some of the current projects are addressing structures that are barriers for fish migration to spawning grounds and rearing habitats for coho, steelhead, Chinook, and cutthroat.

Funding of salmon recovery planning and implementation allows and supports the Tribe’s participation and coordination in groups and meetings that affect regional salmon restoration planning, habitat preservation, stock management, and funding efforts, as well as assists in the implementation of salmon restoration projects
