Description
The purpose of this project was to implement the Oregon Coast Coho Conservation Plan by providing an Implementation Coordinator. The coordinator interacted, coordinated priorities, and tracked accomplishments with the numerous diverse agencies, entities, and individuals involved with implementing the range of strategies and actions across the entire plan area. As an additional part of plan implementation, ODFW funded two Western Oregon Stream Restoration Program (WOSRP) biologists for the Oregon Coast (funding documented in Column O). The WOSRP biologists provided local watershed councils and landowners with initial assessments of limiting factors for potential project sites, information about how potential projects fit within basin priorities for restoration, and designs for habitat restoration projects.
PCSRF FFY 2019 funds were expended on project costs incurred during the PCSRF FFY 2019 contract award period and PCSRF FFY 2020 funds were used to complete the project.
Project Benefit
The goal of this project was to successfully implement the Coastal coho conservation plan. In order to do this, a coordinator with sole responsibility for plan implementation was required, given the scope of the plan and the likelihood that the level of attention needed for successful implementation of it would not be able to be provided by adding responsibilities to existing staff with full workloads. The goal of the plan is to provide a roadmap of actions for delisting the species addressed from the federal ESA list, and improve and maintain healthy populations of these native fish for the social, economic, and natural benefit of current and future Oregonians.

Description and scope of the Recovery Plan implemented | |
The plans implemented are for the entire Coastal coho ESU. The plans call for hatchery and harvest actions (which have been largely implemented previously), and habitat restoration actions (which are on-going across the ESU, and on which this projected focused). Implementation of these actions across the range of the ESU required significant coordination with numerous entities and individuals. In addition, Western Oregon Stream Restoration Program (WOSRP) biologists provided local watershed councils and landowners with initial assessments of limiting factors for potential project sites, information about how potential projects fit within basin priorities for restoration, and designs for habitat restoration projects. |
