Description

This project supported an OWEB staff position focused on tracking and reporting of OWEB grants to fulfill Pacific Coastal Salmon Recovery Fund (PCSRF) grant requirements. The Federal Reporting Coordinator position organized and managed the overall PCSRF reporting and tracking program and was responsible for semi-annual progress reports submitted to National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS). This position provided analysis of OWEB’s contribution to the PCSRF program and Oregon’s conservation and protection efforts.

Project Benefit

This project is integral to the State of Oregon receiving and distributing PCSRF funds to a wide variety of activities throughout the State of Oregon that are intended to benefit salmon and steelhead populations and their habitats.

Description and scope of the plan implemented
The Oregon plan for Salmon and Watersheds is an adaptive strategy designed to help restore healthy watersheds to improve water quality and habitat for native fish and wildlife throughout the state. The Oregon plan is based on four elements: effective implementation of natural resources regulatory programs, voluntary conservation efforts, good science to inform decision-making, and monitoring/reporting of results. These four elements are consistent with NOAA’s Strategic Plan Ecosystem Mission goal to protect, restore, and manage the use of coastal and ocean resources through an ecosystem approach to management.
