Description    


The project severed as and continues as a study guide to understanding Beaver Dam Analogues effects on coho salmon. Researchers gained a greater knowledge in the physical parameters of construction, structure placement and management. The project produces 2 published peer-reviewed articles, 3 masters students thesis.

Project Benefit    


Beaver dam analogues are a new restoration methodology for restoring beneficial watershed habitat. By monitoring fish passage, fish presence with habitat utilization, hydrological and water quality changes, beaver dam analogues will be evaluated for the effectiveness these features have on coho salmon. The information collected from the project provides restoration professionals scientific data on feature characteristics for use in fish habitat restoration designs and projects.
