Description

Three primary tasks were conducted in the Scott Creek watershed during water years 2020 and 2021 to quantify key Viable Salmonid Population (McElhany et al. 2000) characteristics and to support implementation of the California Coastal Monitoring Plan (CMP; Adams et al. 2011):

(1) Adult trapping and monitoring

(2) Redd surveys

(3) Juvenile/smolt downstream migrant trapping

*Sampling was spatially limited in 2020-2021 due to wildfire-related hazards in the Scott Creek watershed

Project Benefit

Continuing to operate the Life Cycle Monitoring Station at Scott Creek will maintain a long term data set on Coho and Steelhead population abundance and trend which the NMFS uses to evaluate the viability of salmonid populations. The project will also provide data to support the Coho broodstock programs.
