Description

A recent survey of culverts on the Hoh Reservation identified two culverts that were barriers to fish passage. These culverts were located on Chalaat Creek, a tributary to the Hoh River. Chalaat Creek had traditionally supported steelhead and coho. The Hoh tribe contracted with Fain Environmental to complete preliminary through final designs of the two Lower Hoh Road Culverts. This project initiated the designs for two culvert replacements, situated less than a mile apart, and the work resulted in final designs that were implementable.

Project Benefit

Final designs will aid in future grant funding for replacement of the identified culverts, opening functional habitat for spawning, incubation, and rearing for steelhead and coho.
