FY 2023 Salmon Recovery through Lead Entity Process

This project will fund the Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe’s participation in the Hood Canal and Eastern Strait of Juan de Fuca Lead Entity Process. This funding will specifically be used to fund tribal staff membership on the Hood Canal Coordinating Council’s Technical Advisory Group (TAG). The TAG is comprised of local (Hood Canal and Puget Sound) professionals with specific technical expertise related to salmon habitat recovery. The TAG evaluates and scores Salmon Recovery Funding Board project applications that seek to benefit salmon by improving important habitat conditions or watershed processes. The TAG determines a final technical ranked list of projects and forwards those to the Habitat Project List Committee for their consideration and final ranking.

This project will help ensure that the habitat portions of the Summer Chum and Chinook Salmon Recovery Plans are implemented in accordance with the Hood Canal lead entity (Hood Canal Coordinating Council). These activities include developing both short term (3 Year Work Program) and long term (Habitat Work Schedule) project lists and evaluating and ranking project proposals.
