Description

CCC installed a total of 20 instream features in 0.69mi of Albion River, consisting of 64 large wood pieces. During construction, project designs were modified with CDFW Grant Manager approval. One feature was added in the project reach with CDFW Grant Manager approval due to a lack of material quality at several other features. The proposed number of logs for these features were installed at the added feature and in other locations in the project reach. Various CDFW approved anchoring techniques were used to hold multiple logs together to form complex structures including wedging logs into existing live mature trees growing on riparian banks and anchoring to live trees with hardware. Available native slash & small woody debris were installed into structures to provide immediate cover for salmonids and encourage floating debris accumulation & aggradation where needed. All FY16 PCSRF funds were spent within the award period (even though the project ended outside the FY16 award period).

Project Benefit

The specific objective of this Project is to engage 48 Members throughout coastal California to enhance anadromous watersheds through restoration and protection, community education and outreach events, recruiting volunteers for hands-on restoration projects, and professional development.
