Description
Project complemented existing WDFW Viable Salmonid Parameters (VSP) monitoring projects for Chinook, coho, chum salmon and steelhead in the Lower Columbia River (LCR) and aided in completion of WDFW comprehensive Monitoring and Research program. The belopw activities WERE employed and implemented.
Monitoring Activities: 1) monitoring (abundance, diversity, spatial structure & productivity), 2) measuring proportions of hatchery- and natural-origin spawners on the spawning grounds. Work types include Adult Salmonid Monitoring, Carcass Counts, and Redd Counts. Research Activities: 1) developing and refining standardized datasets for consistent analysis from new & existing data, 2) improving WDFW’s Region 5 data reporting and sharing capabilities. Work types include Modeling and data analysis. This project has focused on fall Chinook and coho salmon and steelhead monitoring, including data analysis and improvements. This project is a continuation of RCO project 19-1359 WDFW Lower Columbia VSP Monitoring - 2018
Project Benefit
This project will complement existing WDFW Viable Salmonid Population (VSP) parameter monitoring projects for Chinook, coho, chum salmon and steelhead in the Lower Columbia River (LCR) to continue a comprehensive program that is 1) monitoring VSP parameters (abundance, diversity, spatial structure, and productivity), 2) measuring proportions of hatchery- and natural-origin spawners on the spawning grounds, 3) developing standardized datasets for consistent analysis from new and existing data

Key issues addressed by modeling and data analysis research | |
This project analyzed data collected from Viable Salmonid Parameter (VSP) monitoring for abundance, diversity and spatial structure. Data from this project coupled with data from other WDFW monitoring programs calculated productivity and other high level indicators. |
