Description

A rotary screw smolt trap will be operated (i.e. juvenile monitoring) on the mainstem Stillaguamish River to capture emigrant hatchery and wild Chinook smolts. The information collected will be used (utilizing other funds) to estimate the relative contribution, size, and outmigration timing of the two groups for the purposes of monitoring the Chinook natural stock restoration program.

Project Benefit

This project allows the hatchery program to better monitor the timing and size of migration and estimate hatchery release survival in order to evaluate if the program is meeting its biological objectives and minimize adverse ecological interactions between wild and hatchery juveniles.
