Description
The Grantee installed 47 large wood features utilized 141 pieces of large wood throughout a 0.72 mile reach of Upper Little North Fork Noyo River to improve habitat complexity, frequency and depth of pools, provide refuge for migrating salmon, and collect spawning gravels. All logs were soft anchored and at least longer than 1.5 times the average bankfull width of the stream reach.
Project Benefit
The introduction of large wood is expected to enhance degraded habitat by stimulating scour of pools and sorting of gravels, and increasing the quantity of slow water refuge habitat for juvenile salmonids.
