Description
The need for the Entiat Instream Habitat Improvement Project was identified by the Entiat WRIA 46 Management Plan to improve aquatic habitat in the Lower Entiat River. The project installed 5 rock barbs, two rock cross vanes, 13 logs with rootwads, 2 large wood structures, and six boulder clusters with 5 boulders each on RM 2.55-2.75 on the Lower Entiat River. Installation of these structures add instream habitat complexity by changing flow dynamics and modifying sediment deposition patterns to create pools, provide cover, and create more diverse instream conditions in the Lower Entiat River. Structure placement is also intended to reduce channel confinement and increase interaction with the riparian floodplain.
Project Benefit
The goal of the project is to improve instream morphology and habitat in salmon bearing streams. The objective of the project is to increase instream cover, spawning, and resting areas.
