Description

Weir repairs and installation will take place during September 2020. Daily weir & trap monitoring by October 1, 2020 and weekly spawner surveys will be conducted through January 2021. Brood year (BY) 2020 otolith samples will be processed by the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife (WDFW) otolith lab for processing in March/April 2021.

Project Benefit

The data collected through this project enables the Makah Tribe to estimate: the relative contribution of hatchery and natural-origin sockeye (HOR and NOR); the proportions of hatchery origin/natural spawners (pHOS) and natural origin sockeye retained for Brood stock (pNOB); the proportionate natural influence (PNI) of the Umbrella Creek spawners; and HOR straying to the Lake Ozette spawning beaches.
