Description

The Klamath Youth Climate Change Mitigation Project educated students about the impacts of climate change and drought on fisheries and communities through citizen science programs, in-class curriculum, guest presentations, and hands-on field trips. This project took place in 4 schools, Seiad Valley, Happy Camp, Junction, and Orleans Elementary Schools, with additional participation from Yreka High, Hoopa Valley Elementary, and Forks of the Salmon Elementary Schools. A total of 224 youth were involved in program activities.

Project Benefit

Educate local communities regarding water quantity, riparian dysfunction, sapwning habitat, and fish passage issues.
