Description
A prioritized plan for erosion prevention, control, and habitat restoration was produced.
A total of 430 current and future road related sediment delivery features were identified during this Project. Of the 430 features identified, 416 are recommended for treatment, which could result in 63,795 yd3 of future sediment prevented from entering the system. 43.46 miles of road were assessed and 22.92 hydrologically connected roads were recommended for treatment. The estimated total cost to implement the recommended erosion control and erosion prevention treatments at the 430 features and associated road reaches in the Drought Mitigation Planning Project for the Buckeye Forest is $3,382,940.
Project Benefit
The plan will help future restoration efforts in regards to sedimentation, habitat complexity, spawning habitat, and escape cover.

Description and scope of the plan developed | |
This erosion prevention planning project resulted in the inventory and assessment of approximately
43 miles of road-stream connection in the Buckeye Creek sub-watershed, tributary to the Gualala
River. The primary objective of the proposed project is to conduct an on-the-ground road assessment
required to produce a detailed and prioritized erosion control and erosion prevention plan that results
in the protection and improvement of habitat for salmonids, by preventing controllable erosion and
sedimentation to Buckeye Creek and its’ tributaries. These factors and creek are stated in the recovery task. |
