Description    


7210166/7210225 - A new channel was excavated in Strawberry Creek. Twelve wood profile control structures and 7 large pieces of wood were installed for habitat and cover. •Michael Love and Associates (MLA) prepared an as-built survey of the constructed project that includes: a channel longitudinal thalweg profile with culvert invert elevations; up to ten channel and over-bank cross sections; locations and elevations of the log profile control structures; and locations of log cover structures. The west tributary culvert and upstream channel excavation tasks were deleted from the project and the grant was reduced by $52,175.00. This change in the scope of work was required due to permit delays.

7210167 - The surrounding wetland was restored by removing invasive grasses. Earthen planting mounds were constructed adjacent to the stream channels. • 3,100 feet of elk exclusion fencing was installed. •A 25-foot riparian vegetation corridor (two acres) was planted along each side of the re-profiled channel. 8,000 2-year old Sitka spruce, 3,500 red alder, and 5,000 willow sprigs were planted. •The banks were mulched using cardboard and burlap overlain with shredded redwood bark as a weed barrier.

7210224 - 0.1 miles of road were closed affecting 0.1 acres of upland habitat.

Worksite 7210225: 1 culvert will be replaced with a stream-simulation bed.

Worksite 7210226 and 7210227: 2 road crossing barriers impeding coho passage.

Project Benefit    


The objective is to improve fish passage and rearing habitat by restoring 1,600 feet of channel.
