Description    


Outreach events included many pubic meetings, and presentations at Patagonia’s 18th and 19th Annual Salmon Run (5K) in Ventura in 2011 and 2012, SRF 29th Annual Conference, Ojai’s 2011 “Earth Play Day”, and the 11th and 12th Annual Carpinteria Creek Watershed Coalition Celebration. Programs presented at 7 schools, and posters presented at 4 venues. Assisted landowners to develop restoration plans to restore riparian and instream habitat, and address fish passage issues.

Project Benefit    


Hire and train a Fisheries Special Corps Member (FSCM) in southern California to provide additional support to the Fish Habitat Specialist (FHS), the Department of Fish and Game statewide coordinator and regional California Conservation Corps (CCC) coordinator in planning, directing, and coordinating activities relating to the development and administration of CCC fish habitat restoration projects. This position will enable the development and implementation of an increased number of restoration projects (e.g., riparian improvements, in-stream cover) that benefit adult and juvenile Southern steelhead in the coastal streams in Santa Barbara, Ventura and Los Angeles counties.
