Description

The project contributed to the successful development of the Habitat report card for Spring Chinook and steelhead recovery in the Upper Columbia ESU utilizing FY12 funding. Other key successes include participation and products involved in the mid-Columbia HCP processes. Staff also involved in the second module (harvest) of the recovery report card. No actual habitat assessments were conducted utilizing PCSRF. However, interaction with Upper Columbia Watershed Action Groups provided critical direction to habitat related implementation.

Project Benefit

Contributed to an increase in tribal capacity to coordinate with regional salmon recovery efforts, and to develop and implement various watershed and subbasin plans utilizing FY12 funding. Key staff infrastructure ensured that core recovery projects were adequately funded, implemented, and monitored. Staff infrastructure identified cost-sharing opportunities that leveraged adequate funding. This project was necessary to implementing priority habitat actions for ESA-listed salmonids (Priority 1).
