Mission Creek Fish Passage Project at Tallant Road Bridge

Completed construction-level design and specifications for fish passage improvement project at Tallant Road Bridge, including obtaining necessary permits and CEQA review.

The primary goal of the project is to improve upstream migration of steelhead trout at the third impassable barrier in order to provide access to their historic spawning grounds and ultimately restore a healthy population of steelhead in Mission Creek. In addition, the project aims to improve riparian and streamside habitat for other species by creating a stable channel bed and banks, and improving the riparian canopy and native plant cover. Without removal of this key barrier, steelhead will not be able to reach spawning and rearing habitat within Mission Creek, which if not corrected soon, could ultimately lead to extirpation of this species from Mission Creek.
