Description
This project conserved 1,917 acres of land in the Mat-Su Borough important for salmon including wetlands and riparian habitat. By working with private landowners, salmon spawning beds, migration corridors, and rearing and over-wintering habitat for all five species of salmon was permanently protected from future development via conservation easements and fee title acquisitions.
Project Benefit
This project will identify and permanently conserve lands and waterways critical for healthy salmon populations in the Mat-Su. Existing local, state, and federal habitat conservation planning efforts will be built upon to ensure sustainable salmon populations for the Mat-Su into the future. Accomplishments
