Oregon Plan Monitoring Coastal Habitat Surveys

Field-based, statistically-developed surveys of salmonid habitat were conducted. Two years of winter and summer field surveys were completed in the Coastal, and portions of the Rogue/SONCC, management areas of Oregon. These data continue to add to our status and trend information for habitat in this area, as well as a large-scale understanding of the effects of restoration efforts and land use practices.

This project will implement the habitat component of ODFW’s Oregon Plan Monitoring Program, which provides data on the status and trends in anadromous fish habitats. Information and analysis provided by the stream habitat project will be essential to the management and recovery of salmonid populations. The data are critical for evaluating population status and are used directly to target restoration priorities and actions. The Oregon Plan Monitoring Program continues a long term commitment to status and trend monitoring of adult and juvenile fish abundance and distribution and stream habitat and riparian conditions. The monitoring data will provide information relevant to abundance, productivity, survival, distribution, and viability of salmon and steelhead in support of conservation and recovery planning and implementation in Oregon Coast populations.
