Description

Field-based, statistically-developed surveys of juvenile coho and trout/steelhead were conducted. Two years of field surveys were completed in the Coastal management area of Oregon. These data continue to add to our status and trend information for the species addressed.

Project Benefit

This project will implement a component of ODFW’s Oregon Plan Monitoring Program, which provides data on the status and trends in juvenile salmonid populations. Information and analysis provided by the juvenile salmonid program are essential to quantifying the status of juvenile populations, tracking trends in abundance by geographic area, and understanding relationship of salmon to stream habitat. The data will be used to meet objectives of recovery and conservation plans for coastal populations and to assess restoration actions. The Oregon Plan Monitoring Program continues a long term commitment to status and trend monitoring of adult and juvenile fish abundance and distribution and stream habitat and riparian conditions. The juvenile program provides information relevant to abundance, productivity, survival, distribution, and viability of salmon and steelhead in support of conservation and recovery planning and implementation.
