Description

Eleven logs, most with an attached rootmass, were installed in eight pools. Logs were anchored to riparian trees with threaded rebar and to boulders with cable and resin adhesive.

Project Benefit

1. Improve spawning and rearing habitat by increasing habitat diversity for coho, Chinook, and steelhead in a selected section of Dominie Creek, tributary to Rowdy Creek, tributary to the Smith River in Del Norte County. The objective is to increase the cover in 9 existing pools by adding large wood to at least double the shelter rating.
