Salmon Escapement Database Integration

This project established a data management framework for Southeast Alaska salmon escapement data.

This project will work toward ensuring a complete and systematic method of storing and retrieving salmon escapement data for the various stock assessment projects within Southeast Alaska, and develop the tools necessary to access that information through the Information System being developed by Habitat and Restoration Division under the Annual Habitat Assessment project by means of a map interface or standard database query tools. The project will also ensure that the output originates from repeatable methods capable of producing consistent numbers whether they be used internally or by outside entities. The project will also assist fisheries mannagers in managing Southeast Alaskas salmon fisheries for biological escapement as dictated by the Alaska Sustainable Salmon Fisheries Policy in an integrated process, and making that information available to others. Project reports made available online to other users/staff will ease burden of finding the most up-to-date salmon escapement indices/estimates for managed stocks across the region for efficient and consistent reporting to the Alaska Board of Fisheries, the PSC, the Alaska Legislature and other regulatory entities.
