Watershed Council Technical Support

Watershed Council Coordinators are critical liaisons for ODFW to Watershed Councils in coastal watersheds. These positions advise councils on a host of fish and wildlife issues, from habitat protection and restoration to monitoring and evaluation to promote the restoration of Oregons native fish populations.

Providing technical assistance to watershed councils, soil and water conservation districts (SWCDs), and other watershed-based initiative groups and acting as the Departments representative and expert on watershed restoration activities. Facilitating communication among watershed groups, other agencies, and ODFW by communicating activities, directions, requests, and problems associated with watershed groups to the district biologist, region, and Headquarters staff keeping them apprised of the various groups. Advising watershed groups on sources of project funding by aiding watershed councils, SWCDs, and other watershed based groups in obtaining funding for watershed projects based on a knowledge of funding opportunities, application requirements, application deadlines, reporting, and monitoring requirements, etc.
