Description

This project funded several key areas of the Habitat Enhancement Biologist position. The first component was the support to help finish up the final sampling season of the vegetation monitoring project. Additionally, this project helped support the Klamath Tribes involvement in several Upper Klamath Basin Assessments, Upper Sprague River Assessment and the Lower Williamson/Sprague River Assessment.

This project also helped to support the Habitat Enhancement Biologist involvement in a Sprague River basin wide geomorphic monitoring project. This project is ongoing and supports efforts to investigate fluvial processes and how they vegetation communities and fish habitat.

Project Benefit

The Habitat Enhancement Biologist will be working collaboratively with the Klamath Tribes fluvial geomorphologist and other entities on a variety of assessments, research and monitoring projects, and active restoration and enhancement projects directed towards Pacific salmon and steelhead habitat restoration that are either planned or ongoing in the Upper Klamath Basin. The Habitat Enhancement Biologist will collaborate with the appropriate entities in ways that will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of projects already underway, and enhance the ability of all parties to plan and implement better projects in the future. The HEB is also responsible for facilitating the dissemination of information collected by the Tribes, enhancing coordination and collaboration, and ultimately making enhancement efforts of many entities more effective.
