Protecting the Investment: Upper Luckiamute Enhancement Phase 3 - PE

The LWC has taken an adaptive management approach to plant establishment at the project site to maintain revegetation effors on a positive trajectory towards meeting project goals. Herbicide ring sprays in spring and selective spot sprays throughout the growing season were the primary tools for managing weeds. Site visits were done ahead of treatments to determine ideal spray timing and focus areas, as well as potential for different treatments to maximize effectiveness and minimize herbicide use.
Because the projects end date is after the PCSRF FFY 2015 award closes, no funds allocated for this project are reported as match to PCSRF funds.

Control of noxious weeds to reduce infestations and promote the establishment of native riparian vegetation will improve water quality in the long-term by increasing canopy cover, filtering runoff, and reducing bank erosion and fine sediments entering the system. These activities promote stream shading and create conditions favorable to the future recruitment of large wood in the system for increased habitat complexity.
