Description

In preparation for the next phase of the Lower Ohop Creek Restoration Project, the Land Trust permanently protected a 10.43-acre property in the Lower Ohop Valley through fee acquisition. This acquisition will allow restoration partners to work across the full width of the valley on this property and on permanently protected property on the north side of the creek. The property acquired as a part of this project is undeveloped and includes 0.2 mile of Ohop Creek shoreline and 10.43 acres in the floodplain. The Lower Ohop Creek Protection and Restoration Project benefits Chinook, Chum, Coho, Pinks, Steelhead, and Cutthroat.

Project Benefit

Permanently protect Ohop Creek and the surrounding floodplain to ensure future opportunities for restoration of creek channel and floodplain connectivity, meandering channel alignment, and riparian and floodplain reforestation. Support Nisqually Chinook and steelhead recovery goals.
