Description
SRF proposes to educate stakeholders in the Central Coast and South-Central regions of California about Steelhead and Coho recovery strategies including flow enhancement and habitat restoration techniques and associated legal considerations including water rights, regulatory compliance, and permitting. The education series will also focus on Best Management Practices pertinent to local restoration issues, treatments, and actions that could increase stream flows and improve habitat conditions. SRF will create education materials, curriculum, and produce a multi-day Steelhead Summit, a flow enhancement workshop, as well as a erosion and sediment control roads field school in fire-prone regions of California with a target audience of landowners, municipalities, and watershed planners.
Project Benefit
Expected benefits include: 1) training resource professionals in road treatments, sediment and erosion control practices, and post-wildfire remediation practices; 2) convening landowners, agency personnel, planners, tribal members, and non-profit stakeholders in the first Steelhead Summit in the SF Bay, 3) Offering a flow enhancement workshop on the Central Coast to engage agricultural landowners, RCDs, planners, and project proponents; 4) Facilitating better restoration planning and permitting.
