Southern Steelhead Coalition

The current Santa Clara River Steelhead Coalition (SCRSC) - under the new name Southern Steelhead Coalition (Coalition) - will continue to provide a forum for conservation groups working in the watershed to coordinate efforts to implement multi-benefit, process-based ecosystem restoration projects as informed by the southern steelhead recovery and management plans. This name change will reflect that the Coalition is expanding to include the Santa Ynez watershed ? using the framework established in the Santa Clara River, the Coalition will identify new coalition members in the Santa Ynez watershed while maintaining our work and presence in the Santa Clara watershed. We will also work to expand Tribal participation in the coalition and support tribes in proposing priority restoration projects to the opportunities presented by the federal infrastructure bill.

Benefits: increased communication, coordination between organizations to advance watershed restoration projects; greater level of community engagement on issues critical to steelhead recovery, including water infrastructure development, land use decisions, awareness about steelhead ecologic requirements in two watershed identified as critical to the long term survival on an imperiled species; support regional groups to plan and implement restoration activities and public events.
