Description
The project eliminated all direct diversion by Alliance Redwoods Conference Grounds (ARCG) from Redwood Gulch, a tributary of Dutch Bill Creek, and substantially reduced dry season diversion from sidehill wells and springs located adjacent to ARCG property. The project implemented three main components: 1. Water conservation measures to reduce irrigation water demand were completed during phase 1 of construction in 2021-2023; 2. The source of non-potable water for irrigation was switched from surface diversion in Redwood Gulch to sidehill wells that served as potable water before the project. These infrastructure changes were completed during phase 1 of construction in 2021-2023; 3. The source of potable water was switched from sidehill wells and springs to the Camp Meeker Recreation and Park District System. These improvements were implemented during phase 2 of construction in 2024-25 and will be finalized in May 2025.
FY16 and FY19 funds were spent within appropriate award windows.
Project Benefit
The project will implement a series of components, which includes switching water sources and instituting irrigation water conservation measures to reduce Alliance Redwoods? existing potable and non-potable water demand on sources in the central Dutch Bill Creek watershed by 90%. Surface water diversion from Redwood Gulch, a major Dutch Bill Creek tributary, will be eliminated. Successful project implementation is expected to increase streamflow in Dutch Bill Creek by at least 0.05 cfs.
