Lagunitas Creek Salmonid Monitoring

The purpose of this Agreement is to provide salmonid population monitoring in the Lagunitas Creek watershed for three consecutive years. Activities include conducting Coho salmon and steelhead spawning ground surveys, snorkel surveys, DIDSON monitoring, and juvenile smolt trapping following the overall design and strategy outlined in Adams et al. (2011), to provide estimates of adult and juvenile salmonid abundance, redd abundance, and juvenile occupancy rates. Aspects of this work will be achieved in collaboration with existing efforts and partners in the watershed.

Lagunitas Creek is one of the most stable populations of CCC Coho Salmon near the southern extent of the species range. This project provides important information regarding the different life stages of Coho Salmon and steelhead trout in the watershed. The life cycle monitoring component also provides data vital to discerning restoration effectiveness and can inform ways to further benefit listed salmonids.
