Description
The Sweetwater Nursery Off-Channel Habitat Design Project is complete. It includes 100% design plans, specifications, engineers cost estimate, Basis of Design Report, large wood ballast and stability calculation memo, and final report. The above design products, when implemented in a future project, will benefit coho salmon and steelhead through the creation of approximately 13,000 sq. ft./0.298 acre winter base habitat, 24,000 sq. ft./0.551 acre flood habitat, and 99,000 sq. ft./2.273 acres off channel pond habitat. All FY16 PCSRF funds were spent within the award period (even though the project ended outside the FY16 award period).
Project Benefit
The project seeks to develop 100% designs that, when implemented, will reconnect an existing man-made pond to the Green Valley-Atascadero confluence wetland complex to serve as off-channel winter high flow refugia for coho salmon.
