Description

Sockeye salmon were enumerated from approximately June 15 to August 15 in Pasagshak River during the 2022 to 2024 seasons and the age, sex, and length (ASL) composition was estimated. Harvest effort was also monitored and ASL data was collected.

Project Benefit

The Pasagshak River sockeye run has recently had extremely low escapement, suggesting actions are needed to conserve the fishery resource for future run health. Timely and accurate inseason escapement estimates of Pasagshak River sockeye salmon will allow for inseason management adjustments to maintain the sustainability of the run and provide sustainable subsistence harvests.
